...the eatery [McDonald's] got rid of its Dollar Menu about a month ago. That move, which McDonald's called a simple business decision, means items on the menu are now too expensive for the people who spend much of their day hanging out on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.

Items on the Dollar Menu now cost around $1.50.

Homelessness has been a problem in San Francisco for decades. Tension between business owners and homeless people who hang out on sidewalks in front of their stores and offices has prompted Mayor Gavin Newsom and some Haight Street merchants to support a ballot measure in November that would ban sitting or lying on public sidewalks, The Chronicle reported.

Some homeless people think the more expensive menu is the next logical step in the crackdown, though the move does not affect other McDonald's in the city.

"That means that the Dollar Menu is a hoax, a fraud, a phony," Blake Edwards told KGO-TV .

Homeless people are like the opposite of Vulcans when it comes to logic. McDonalds restaurants all over the United States have price differences. It is totally within the rights of a restaurant to raise their prices, and it can certainly make sense to do so if profitable. As discussed in the Bum Hate article "The Tragedy of the Commons - An example of bums ruining it for everyone", some McDonalds have to turn off their soda fountains and not offer free refills because of the homeless people stealing soda. If the bums don't like the price increase, they're more than welcome to go to a competing restaurant. That's how capitalism works baby! FUCK YEAH!

This subculture depicts street life as much more than the stereotypes portrayed in mainstream media. The film takes a deep look into the lives of the men who race carts, the adversity they face and the appeal of cart racing despite the risk. Shot in high-definition and featuring tracks from Black Mountain, Ladyhawk, Vetiver, Bison, and Alan Boyd of Little Sparta.

LoL in the first 3 minutes a bum crashes his cart full of shit into a car, breaks his leg, and says "Just get me the hell out of here." Great, the bum will pay nothing and both the insurance company and the government will lose money by paying for the car repairs and the bum's medical bills respectively.

The documentary shows a bunch of homeless scavengers stealing money from the city of Vancouver by taking all the recyclables out of the recycle bins. Why this is stealing is addressed in a previous Bum Hate article found here.

I started writing this post nearly two years ago, so the rest of the post will be mostly from memory, since I'm not going to watch the entire documentary again...

First off, these bums are stealing shopping carts. Shopping carts cost money. Now a days many stores have to put electronic devices on the shopping carts to prevent their theft, which costs even more money.

It's actually kind of impressive how good these bums are at riding the carts. The bums act like the carts are skateboards.

One of the bums says he "could probably get a damn job tomorrow" but then wouldn't show up for two days in a row because he was on bender and would get fired. That's messed up. The guy lacks responsibility and discipline and would rather leech off of society. Yes I realize he most likely has an alcohol problem. In fact, the video shows quite a few bums that just sit around and drink booze instead of working. They should be saving their money for something important like food or a home. Hell, one of the bums is even wearing a Budweiser t-shirt. It's ironic that he's basically advertising for the root of his problems.

Lastly, some of the homeless in this documentary say what many homeless people say: they prefer being homeless because of the freedom. Sorry bums, but this is just backwards rationalization for being homeless. Who has more freedom, an employed man with money in his pocket who can eat at whatever restaurant he wants, or a bum with no money who, for every meal, must scavenge for garbage, steal, or beg for change just to afford the cheapest of food items? Who has more freedom, an employed man with money who can choose to live in a variety of apartments, condos, or houses, or a bum with no money who can choose to sleep in a limited selection of alleys or shelters that must provide enough warmth so he doesn't die of hypothermia at night? The freedom that homelessness offers is like the freedom to get hit in the nut sack a variety of different ways. It sucks any which way.

Steven Schulman, a homeless man who won a large judgment after being run over by a semi, is found dead at age 55.

Basically this bum Schulman was sleeping in the middle of an alley, and a trucker accidentally ran over the guy's legs, because he didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to sleep in the middle of a fucking alley. An ambulance-chasing vampiric lawyer saw an opportunity to turn Schulman's bloody legs into money and sued the trucking company of the driver. Schulman won almost $700,000!

Story highlights:

In the months that followed, Schulman wasted no time spending his fortune. He took frequent trips to fine sushi restaurants, hollering for sake refills and filets. He adorned his new apartment with flat screen TVs and sports memorabilia.

When a lightly used black Corvette he purchased went missing, he didn't wait longer than a couple of days to replace it with a brand new red Corvette. The misplaced Corvette was later recovered — and he kept both. He burned through more than $200,000 of his lawsuit money (from a total of $350,000 after lawyer fees, loans and other costs) in less than a year.

He was found dead beside several empty bottles of King Cobra malt liquor Tuesday morning, said his attorney, Gary Casselman. Neighbors grew concerned when they heard his dog, Pebbles, whimpering behind the door. Their attention had already been piqued, Casselman said, because they hadn't seen Schulman walking the massive German shepherd mix outside the apartment complex.

...Since Schulman's legal victory, Casselman said, the dog had grown fat from a steady diet of cheeseburgers.

Wow, that is all spectacular and sensational. This story really illustrates how giving homeless people money is not much better than throwing the money away. Separately it shows how some people will always be broke no matter how much money they make. Schulman suffered from sheer and utter stupidity when it came to money. He was an alcoholic, but there are alcoholics that earn wages and don't go broke. However, if this guy had freed himself of his addiction to alcohol, he still would have blown all of his money, as evident by his frivolous purchases. Science has not yet developed a way to inject intelligence into dumb mother fuckers like this bum. What are our options then? Unfortunately smacking the shit out of him won't knock some sense into him. He would have been better off if someone (his lawyer? the government?) confiscated his money and gave it to him in small payments, rather than giving him the lump sum that he blew through. Perhaps there could be government intervention on spending for those who have been on welfare or who have been homeless...If society has had to support someone, that person gives up some rights for a period of time with any money earned and has to show good spending habits to prove that society won't have to support them again.

Lidl issues scavenger poisoned food apology
Discount German supermarket chain Lidl has issued an apology after workers at one of its Swedish stores deliberately poisoned discarded food in a bid to keep homeless people at bay.

"Lidl Sweden has been informed that cleaning liquids have been poured into the trash to stop trespassers from stealing garbage at one of our stores during a short time period," Mathias Kivikoski, Lidl's chief executive in Sweden, said in a statement.

"We deeply regret what has happened and this is not something the company recommends or permits," it added.

A newspaper in the Stockholm suburb of Solna revealed that Lidl employees at a local store had become tired of homeless people searching trash bins had last week begun pouring toxic cleaning products on discarded food.

They put up a sign near the bins warning that the goods had been poisoned, but it remained unclear if anyone had eaten the food, the Mitt i Solna paper reported.
Food had disappeared from the bins after the staff began poisoning it, it said.

LoLz don't put it past a homeless person to ignore the danger signs and eat the poisoned food. Poisoned garbage sounds delicious.

Rolf Nilsson, who heads a Stockholm homeless organization, described the employees' actions as "crazy."
"This is just so upsetting and distressing. We're talking about people who have to dig in garbage containers to find food to eat," Nilsson told the Aftonbladet daily.

I guarantee that the article omits the part where the homeless people make a huge fucking mess when they scavenge for food and don't clean it up. In general they are filthy fucking parasites who leave a place messier and worse off than it was when they got there. If the bums didn't create extra work for the supermarkets, restaurants, and garbage men by throwing trash out of the dumpster and leaving it strewn about, then there wouldn't be a problem. Gawd forbid that the bums pick up after themselves or, *GASP*, leave the place cleaner and better than when they found it! That's just CrAzY TaLK!

So my former roommate on Facebook posted "Just got asked for change by an individual with real 135 dollar basketball shoes on. Are you kidding me?"

This is the same roommate that was with me for the Taco Bell "change comes from within" story.

Back in Chicago in 2005, there was always this beggar by Ogilvie train station asking for change. He was always smoking cigarettes and I saw him wearing a complete matching outfit: shirt, shorts, shoes, all perfectly coordinated with its purposefully obscure matching colors of maroon and baby blue. He was dressed nicer than me yet was shaking a cup full of change at people while smoking a cancer stick! What an asshole.

Wearing expensive ass shoes or clothes and at the same time asking for money really shows the ignorant "hood rich" mentality of these people. Friends of mine who are teachers in ghetto areas see kids come to school with the newest Air Jordans, yet the same kids don't even have money to eat lunch. This ignorance even spreads across continents. On the Jay-Z "Water For Life" MTV special, Jay-Z travels to Angola and South Africa and meets people who have to travel a couple of miles to haul back a small tank of water, which needs to last an entire family one week for drinking, bathing, cleaning, etc. They then show that these same people own cell phones! WTF? Do the cell phones even get service out there? It's ridiculous and sad that some people place vain frivolous material possessions ahead of basic life necessities. Expensive cars, jewelry, lavish houses...you don't need these things, save your money instead.

You're not fooling anyone.

For many years bums have felt like it's permissible for them to hang out all day at fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, and Taco Bell. Fast food employees usually won't tell a bum to get the hell out of the restaurant like you'd see at almost every nicer sit-down restaurant. These abundant and inexpensive chain restaurants are viewed by people as being kind of like public rest stops, and bums take this to the extreme.

Years ago, fast food restaurants were much more apt to leave things like napkin dispensers, salt and pepper shakers, and ketchup packets out for customers to take. Soda fountains were often available, and public bathrooms would always be available to the customers. Scummy people (prime example: homeless people) abuse these free amenities by taking tons of condiments and napkins, filling up pre-owned thermoses with soda from the soda fountain, and trashing the bathrooms. As a result, fast food restaurants are forced to move all condiments and napkins behind the counter, disable publicly accessible soda fountains (e.g. McDonalds on Hollywood Blvd), and lock the bathroom doors. Next time you are in a fast food restaurant take a look at what amenities are available to you, and it will often correlate with how nice the town is that you are in. Moving napkins and condiments behind the counter is becoming more and more common, but you can usually tell a place is ghetto when they have a token operated bathroom or have to buzz you in.

Give a yard, bums will take a mile. Everyone had it good, but trashy people like bums had to abuse the fast food system and now we all must suffer for it.

Sorry bums, but you can't find this extra value meal at McDonalds.

Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority says 620 families sought shelter in the last 3 months, compared with 330 last winter. Individual shelter-seekers increased about 4% across L.A. County.

"I think the economy has been really hard on families," said Rebecca Isaacs, executive director of the Homeless Services Authority. "There are many triggers for homelessness: an eviction, an increase in rent, the loss of a job, a health tragedy, domestic violence. A lot of people are living very close to the edge."

People, get your shit together! Save your goddamn money instead of living beyond your means! Each one of these "reasons" for homelessness could be avoided if the people saved their money.
Here's a few ways that saving money can help
If you save your money, you can dip into your bank account to afford an increase in rent and avoid eviction. Move into a cheaper place while you're at it. If you lose your job or fall into bad health, you can live off of your savings for a while until you get a new job or your health improves. If you're a victim of domestic violence, you should have your own savings account so you can leave the person that beat you. Furthermore, during prosperous times, you can learn new profitable skills, go to school, acquire licenses or certifications, etc., so that you can make more money and be more marketable. Then, if you lose your job, you can bounce back faster.

The short sightedness of these people amazes me....apparently no one read them the fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper" when they were young.

Camden building is refuge for the homeless

By night, it's part slumber party and part refuge, a last chance for dozens of homeless people who could otherwise freeze to death.

The word "party" should not be used in the same sentence as the word "homeless".

They play cards, talk about football, eat chips, and fall asleep in the hoods of their coats.

Instead of playing cards, play the "get a fucking job" game. If you're homeless you shouldn't have free time to dick around. You should be working or looking for work whenever you're not sleeping.

"This gives them a little reprieve from the cold so in the morning we're not scraping people off the ground because it's so cold."

Whatever, you only have to scrape them off the ground once and you won't have to do it again.

Typical resting spots are all exposed to the elements: abandoned houses, known to the homeless as bandos; areas under bridges and between warehouses; park benches.

It's a good idea to keep away from any guy who is described as a drifter. To paraphrase the Seinfeld episode where Kramer gets in that van with those hippies: "Hey, Rego - have you ever killed a man?" Rego: "What do you think, junior? You think these hands have been soakin' in Ivory liquid?" *mimics choking somebody*

Here is the story behind this piece of shit poor excuse for a human being:

Mike Rego, 34, a father from Pittsburgh, got to the Wright lobby on his own. He said he relapsed into heroin addiction about six weeks ago, and now his bed on cold nights is a red blanket on the red-tiled floor near the lobby security desk.

He ended up in Camden because, as he put it, "if you had an addiction to cheeseburgers, and you were told the best cheeseburgers were in Milwaukee, Wis., you would go to Milwaukee."

HUH? So you're saying you were told the best heroin is in Camden, NJ? Rego's story continued:

The two security guards do their first wake-up call at 5:15 a.m., and by 6, when a cleaning crew arrives, Rego heads around the corner to a Dunkin' Donuts store, where he sits until he is kicked out for not buying anything.

Then it's over to a McDonald's. Same drill.

Myself being one of McDonald's greatest customers ever, eating there probably about 4 times a week (used to be more), and also being a fast food addict, I gotta say I HATE having to deal with homeless scum when I eat there.

I hope when Mike Rego shows up to McDonalds, evil Ronald McDonald is waiting there to kill him.

The rest of the day often goes like this: He hops on the RiverLine train without buying a ticket, gets off at a random town, steals a large box of candy from a convenience store, and brings it back to Camden to sell to a bodega for $10.

He buys a bag of heroin with the money and shoots it. Then he walks and walks. If it's cold enough, his day ends back in the lobby.

If not, "I just won't sleep." If he gets really tired - or if the heroin stops masking the pain in his feet from walking so much - he'll find a bando.

"Sometimes I pray that they lock me up" so he can find a way to recover, he said.

Sometimes (a lot of times) I pray you die. His daily activities are stealing and doing drugs for christ's sakes! This drain to society needs to get off of the smack.

A group smoking cigarettes outside the lobby said that if the warming center weren't there, they would be freezing to death.

Boy I wish the warming center wasn't there.

Homeless man Angel says:

"Do you see how many houses have been burned down and just sit there?" he asked. "If I was rich, if I was wealthy, I'd build the biggest shelter in New Jersey."

Bullshit you would, you would blow all your money on booze, drugs, and hookers.

Those at the warming center said they wait in line for shelter, only to be turned away for space. Others said they do not like that shelters require ID, Social Security numbers, and a willingness to get addiction treatment or public assistance.

Willingness to get addiction treatment or public assistance should absolutely be a requirement! Any filthy bum who says he doesn't want addiction treatment or public assistance needs some sense beat into him. It is not acceptable for homeless people to live a life of stealing and leeching from society--they need to be reintegrated.

Frozen in indifference: Life goes on around body found in vacant warehouse

Detroit is putting up a good fight against New Orleans for the title of worst city in the entire United States.

Basically there is a bum frozen to death in some ice in an abandoned building. For a month a bunch of people are around the frozen body, even playing ice hockey next to it, but no one calls the police! Finally the reporter calls the police, the police don't show up, so he calls them again a day later and the cops finally arrive.

In all actuality though, I'd be reluctant to call the cops too, because they often look at the caller as the prime suspect if there is a crime involved, or try to fuck the caller over some other way (I know from first hand experience). If the dirty bums called the police, they might get blamed for the frozen bum's death, kicked out of their warehouse "home", charged with drug possession, trespassing, etc.

Some people thought that the frozen man might not be homeless because his white socks were fairly clean and his shoes had fresh laces. However, follow ups on the story say that it looks like the frozen man really was a bum, not a regular citizen, and that no foul play is suspected. No shocker there. I mean look, the guy has white socks with black shoes...anyone with such poor fashion sense is probably homeless.

Deaths on downtown's skid row have fallen over the last four years amid a crackdown on crime by police and an exodus of homeless people to other parts of the city.

Excluding murders and suicides, 60 people died within the 19 police reporting districts that make up skid row in 2008, according to LAPD statistics.

The October 2008 issue of Complex magazine with Aubrey O'Day from Danity Kane on the cover (yowza) had a short article where a bum reveals some of his sly tactics and lies for conning gullible people out of money.

I like the one lie about his family being in Cleveland and that they're all suffering from acute lepromeningosis. Googling lepromeningosis revealed no results, so don't feel bad for not knowing the word, because it doesn't exist (Google says: Did you mean: leptomeningitis). Regardless, saying your family is in Cleveland should be enough to get money from anyone who has ever been to Cleveland. I went there in 2003 and it sucked. The Rock and Roll Museum was a huge let down. I did see a celebrity there....convicted murderer and swindler Don King was staying at my hotel. Sweet. Don't get me wrong, Cleveland is way better than a ton of other large cities out there, like that shit hole New Orleans which should be washed away and never rebuilt...but I still wouldn't want to live there.

It's also nice to see the bum criticize sickening cutesy attempts at humor on signs that some bums use in hopes of getting money. "Funny" bum signs during a recession probably increase a bum's chances of getting doused with gasoline and set on fire. We hope.

The EDAR, a cross between a shopping cart and a pop-up camper, is a step up.

Christopher Raynor's father kicked him out when he was 13, after his stepmother interrupted an orgy in his bedroom and the teen jammed a broom handle against her throat.

Daaaaaamn son, an orgy at 13?! You were a mack! I'd be pissed too if anyone interrupted my orgy. Now a days it's illegal to kick a kid that young out of the house. Maybe it was allowed 27 years ago when this supposedly happened.

Raynor's mother died of stomach cancer, his father was shot to death, and he himself has served time in jail. He spends much of each day intoxicated and grimy. He despises most people.

What's that ladies? You want to know if he's single?

EDAR creator Peter Samuelson discusses how he came up with the idea for the EDAR by interviewing homeless people:

"Where do you spend the night?" he asked one woman. She led him by the hand into the bushes and showed him a large cardboard Sub-Zero box.

I bet that's not ALL she showed him if you catch my drift. *wink wink* *knowing nod* Cue the 70's porno music!

Samuelson said he was shocked by the demographics: About 60% of the homeless were men, 24% were women, and 15% were under 18. (Adult transgender individuals accounted for the rest.)

Wait a second, if we do 100% total people, minus 60% men, minus 24% women, that leaves us with 16% trannies! Yikes that's a lot of trannies! I suppose it makes sense though, because most people don't want trannies around; they're just too damn weird. This makes it hard for them to get hired for jobs and no one on Craigslist will room with them, so they go homeless.

After Dehanka Straughter was laid off from her job as a cook at a Compton preschool, she and her two sons, ages 2 and 6, were evicted from their $975-a-month apartment.

Now the petite Straughter, 27, sleeps in an EDAR with her boys on the fourth floor of the mission. They like it better than she does. "The kids adjust to anything," she said. "They think they're camping."

Damn, these poor kids. What are the laws on keeping kids in shelters like this? At what point are the kids removed from the mom because she can't take care of them? If you don't have much money, then don't have all these kids!

Raynor learned about EDAR from homeless acquaintances. A high school dropout and former construction worker, Raynor had spent three years in jail for auto theft and forgery. With police after him in Texas and his home state of Missouri, he went to Arizona. He left there in search of more temperate weather and found it next to Pacific Coast Highway.

As traffic rushed by one recent starry Friday night, Raynor reminisced about his brushes with the law. Beer can in hand, he spoke of jumping a freight train to Texas to search for a friend's missing 13-year-old daughter. Wielding a sawed-off shotgun, he banged down a door and tied up two men who he thought knew her whereabouts. "How was I to know they were cops working on a sting operation?" he said.

lol wut?! I like how he's acting like his actions aren't that big of a deal and that he just got unlucky with the undercover cops. Dude, you aren't OJ Simpson, you can't be busting into places with a gun and tying people up.

Recently, a woman he described as his fiancee was struck and killed by a driver on PCH. Not long after, a male friend suffered the same fate, he said. The woman he'd married in Arizona disappeared from his life. He shares his PCH-adjacent turf with a woman named Yolanda, whose speech has been slurred by alcohol and a head injury.

Damn, PCH is gangster! PCH in Long Beach is where I saw my first big homeless caravan of people. It's not surprising that these bums are getting nailed by cars on PCH. I saw a bum walk straight across PCH with tons of cars flying by that had a green light. Basically it was the bum saying "fuck all of you, what are you gonna do, hit me and damage your cars?"

Meanwhile, lawyers are sorting out legal issues. Will municipal codes allow users to park their units anywhere? What about constitutional questions and not-in-my-backyard complaints?

My buddy in Long Beach is a doctor who had a homeless woman set up camp with her carts and boxes full of garbage right on his parking lot in the back of his office. He called the cops to move her out of there. The woman was taking her sweet time gathering her garbage, and the cops finally said, "we're busy and have to go now," no doubt to take care of the one million other crimes going on in Long Beach at that moment. "Homeless woman, make sure you're out of here within the next hour." Well of course as soon as the cops left the homeless woman just plunked her trash right back down to where she was. *sigh*

These EDARs are indeed a step up from living in card board boxes, but unfortunately some homeless will use EDARs to rationalize and justify that their way of life is accpetable because they have this nifty transportable tent-like device. Regardless, more EDARs should be tested and deployed to bums everywhere.

I came across this curiously named "Homeless Roll" at Mikomi sushi restaurant located at 414 S Myrtle Ave Monrovia, CA 91016. Since I am an authoritative source on all things homeless, I had to give it a try. The roll consists of shrimp tempura, avocado inside, chopped prime size soft shell crab on top. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the homeless sushi roll does not contain homeless man raw meat in it. The homeless roll is item number S11 on the menu and costs $13.50. I asked the waitress if she knew why the Homeless Roll was called the Homeless Roll and not surprisingly she said "Oh, I don't know, tee-hee." My guess would be because of all the crab sits in the middle of the plate by itself. If you can figure out the reasoning for the naming, let me know.

Tsemberis believes that putting his clients in a place of their own is paramount in achieving success with their counseling and stabilization, as is the case with O'Boyle.

"You have to separate the treatment needs from the housing needs, which is what we were able to do for him. Give him a place to live so that he can feel safe and secure first, and then he's interested in helping himself with his psychiatric or addiction issues, employment issues. All of the issues follow the security of housing."

Hmmm there might be some truth in that....Then again, all homeless once had homes and went down from there...but there's no doubt that having a home would make getting back on your feet a lot easier.

Tsemberis says veterans' perspectives played a key role in the ideological creation of Pathways to Housing.

"They had already served their country, so jumping through hoops was not really something they were willing to put themselves through and would really accept housing on their own terms," he said.

"They felt that they had done their part and that someone should help them in the way that they deserved to be helped. And we agreed with that."

Ugh there is the bum's dangerous sense of self-entitlement. I have to say, I do feel way more sympathy for homeless Veterans than almost all other kinds of bums, but it's not like capable veterans shouldn't have to ever work again after a few years of service.

Pathways clients typically receive about $20,000 in rent and services which include mental health, addiction, health, employment and peer support. Tsemberis says that figure is half the amount a homeless person usually costs the system.

Daaaaamn that's expensive. This Tsemberis is saying that a homeless person usually costs "the system" $40,000? Man I didn't even make $40,000 a year until 2004, and didn't make more than $40,000 until 2005...and that was doing pretty well in Chicago!

The money comes from federal, state and some city funds, and clients have to meet standard lease obligations, such as paying 30 percent of income toward rent. Rental rates on apartments are fair market, with a studio usually going for about $750 a month.

Yeah NY rentals are expensive, but it sounds like these bums are living pretty well with the help of this service. I hope it produces rehabilitative results.

His daughter eventually suggested handing out résumés on the street.

"We started talking, and she actually came up with the suggestion of putting on the sign board. I thought, 'That's not a bad idea.' So, here I am," he said.

You're wrong, that is a bad idea. You look like a fucking crazy person with that sandwich board sign. You're daughter doesn't know WTF she's talking about. If you were looking for jobs at her skill level in life, such as waiting tables, flipping burgers, and babysitting, then maybe passing out resumes on the street could work. Getting the right person's attention is tough. Competing with him for the eyes of passers-by are charity groups and homeless people seeking donations.

Exactly dude. You aren't going to get an executive level job out of pity, you have to actually be qualified for the position, so you shouldn't be out begging for a job alongside charities and bums. Wearing a sign around your neck like that to look for a white-collar job shows that you have a poor understanding of how the business world actually works.
Furthermore, your sign says "Almost homeless," which implies many negative things about you. First, it implies that you are a poor manager of money, since you had little savings to rely on during your unemployment. Second, it implies that you have a poor social network and are unresourceful in finding help and money to avoid homelessness. Third, it implies that you have been jobless for a long time, which means that many companies saw you and didn't want you, because you suck.

But there was one hopeful moment as CNN was interviewing him. A man identifying himself as the head of a New York executive recruiting firm took one of Nawrocki's résumés.

"Well, I found his résumé here, so I'm going to try to find him [something]," he said.

Nawrocki could have found this recruiter on the internet and emailed the recruiter his resume which would have saved him the hassle of standing around with a sign like a damn fool. If the recruitment guy actually looks for a job for Nawrocki, which the recruiter shouldn't unless he wants to lose credibility with the companies that he supplies potential employees to, he better hope the companies don't do a quick Google search on "Paul Nawrocki"....because they'll find out that this guy is so inept that he wore a fucking sandwich board sign around his goddamn neck looking for an executive level job. An effort to keep homeless people out of jail for petty crimes has saved the city $3.8 million in jail costs since 2000, city Magistrate Michael Lex said.

The article says this about jail:

For some homeless people, "it's a chance to get your calories up" through three meals a day but with little other deterrent.

Hundreds of homeless adults are arrested each year for the same types of petty crimes: urinating in public, trespassing and panhandling, he said.

The city court's homeless program has resulted in 31,777 charges dismissed since the program began in 2000.
Those charges represent 13,363 court dockets and nearly 6,000 individuals whose charges were thrown out after they completed a diversion program tailored to their needs.
Lex said that as an arraignment judge and then a trial judge, he saw "the same people again and again."
They were either "real jerks," substance abusers or mentally ill, Lex said.

These "diversion programs" better show some fucking results, otherwise it's just giving these homeless a license to commit petty crimes without any fear of retribution. How would you like it if a bum kept trespassing on your property and pissing and shitting in your yard over and over again and he would never be punished for it? Rather than a diversion program, a better punishment would be lethal injection or the electric chair.

Keith Bradley, who runs a 45-bed homeless shelter at South Sixth Street and South Avenue, said the signs need to be taken with a grain of salt.

He went on to say that with the number of services available in the Grand Valley, no one needs to be homeless if they choose not to be.

"I think the problem here is being taken care of," Bradley said. "It's not a disgrace to be poor, but the disgrace is not trying to get out of it."

He was discharged on June 13, but just four days later died at the hospital after his drinking partner in Paddington Green woke up to find him with blue lips and vomit around his mouth.

Wow, that really brings a tear to my eye . This reminds me of the movie Drunken Master 2, AKA Legend of the Drunken Master, starring Jackie Chan. In the film, Jackie Chan's bullshit martial art of drunken kung-fu requires him to drink booze to reach his full fighting potential. In the final scene, with no regular booze around, Jackie Chan resorts to drinking industrial alcohol to help him fight which results in blinding him and mentally crippling him. In August, Southwark Coroner Court heard how two homeless men died after drinking the disinfectant.

Thomas Sajdak, 29, was found dead in Streatham, South London, in February, while his friend Oleh Wowczyshyn, 29, collapsed and died four days later after complaining of severe stomach pains.

Sweet, keep it up alcoholic bums. Back in Chicago I heard a similar story while at Bartending School. The instructor said that during the winter some bums would drink rubbing alcohol "to help keep warm" and then would die because "the coagulants would seize up their hearts." I'll tell you the real reason they drank the rubbing alcohol is because they fucking love booze, not to keep warm. It doesn't matter whether or not the rubbing alcohol kills the bums through coagulants seizing up their hearts or by another means, it's the fantastic end result that is important.

The moral of the story is this: Give bums free sanitizing hand wash and/or rubbing alcohol under the guise that it's for helping keep them clean, when in actuality it's for hoping they drink it and die. Doing the right thing for the wrong reason is still doing the right thing.

Boulder Police Sgt. Jim MacPherson said 46-year-old Robert Evans was first struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle and treated for minor injuries at an area hospital early Wednesday, The Denver Post reported.
MacPherson said after being discharged from the hospital, the homeless man was struck by a train while heading back to his makeshift home. The police sergeant said while the impact knocked Evans into a nearby creek, it did not appear to cause any significant injuries.

How could you not see that train coming? This bum needs to open his god damn eyes and stop being so damn reckless. Being hit by the train makes me wonder if getting hit by the car was his fault too.

"There was no indication he received serious injuries," he told the Post.

MacPherson said perhaps having survived both potentially fatal accidents with such limited injuries was a sign Evans' luck had changed for the better.

Some users of the city's public transit said they are thinking about changing their routine.

LOS ANGELES -- A parolee was sentenced Friday to 17 years to life in state prison for stomping a homeless woman to death on Los Angeles' Skid Row.

Gregory Hampton, 54, attacked Kristi Morales on the night of May 3, 2006, at Fifth and San Julian streets, steps away from a nonprofit shelter that had available beds. She died five days later.

Four days after officers fatally shot a homeless man who had a toy gun in his waistband, Inglewood Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks broke her silence on the shooting Thursday, expressing concerns about the officers' tactics and saying she had placed seven of them on administrative leave.

"Inglewood always up to no good." -Dr. Dre. So true. I want to pass out realistic toy guns to homeless everywhere in order to give cops a reason to shoot the shit out of them.

"We could have done a better job tactically," Seabrooks said of Sunday's shooting in which officers fired as many as 47 rounds, killing the man and wounding a motorist as well as a dog. "I would have preferred that far fewer rounds would have been fired."

I hope he means that he would have preferred that fewer rounds would have been fired in terms of accuracy....in other words, he would prefer that say only 22 rounds were fired but all rounds were head shots or straight into the heart of the homeless man, rather than 47 rounds fired with several misses.

In Franco's case, police said officers opened fire when Franco appeared to reach for a gun in his waistband. The object was actually a realistic-looking toy gun, Seabrooks said. The toy had an orange tip, but it was concealed from the officers' view, she added.

Seabrooks said Franco appeared to be intoxicated and failed to follow officers' orders to stand still and keep his hands up.

Prosecutor: Teens cruised for 'bums' to attack

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (AP) -- Two men charged with beating a homeless man to death and viciously attacking two others intended to kill because they repeatedly hit the victims in the head with baseball bats, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Way to hit 'em out of the park with those bats boys!

However, defense attorneys for the two men countered during opening arguments that their clients never meant to do serious harm that night.

Clearly, the boys were only benevolently performing community service and caused no harm.

Prosecutor Peter Holden said Gaynor's skull was crushed and the other two homeless men were beaten in the head, key evidence in whether the attacks were premeditated.

"Every blow had an intended purpose," Holden said in the trial's opening statement.

The purpose: To increase awesomeness and dispose of parasites.

Attorneys for Hooks and Daugherty admitted the group decided to "beat on some homeless guys" that night but did not mean serious harm and that witnesses differ on who struck fatal blows on Gaynor.

Beating on some homeless guys sounds like the start of any good night.

Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty against any of the three because Daugherty was 17 at the time of the crime and was ineligible for capital punishment.

17? This kid should not be tried as adult. Fuck, I didn't know my asshole from a hole in the ground and did a lot of stupid shit when I was 17. If the law states that you aren't an adult until you're 18, and you are denied certain rights because you're under 18, then there shouldn't be exceptions to criminally fuck you as an adult if you're under 18. Serious review/rant of the movie Pursuit of Happyness

So a couple months ago I saw the movie "Pursuit of Happyness" and overall it was a good movie. If you haven't seen it, Will Smith plays a single dad, Chris Gardner, down on his hard luck in 1981 trying to survive in San Francisco.

The tough time the main character had in the movie reminded me to a much lesser extent of the tough time I had of getting a decent job in 2003/2004 Chicago, living paycheck to paycheck, and the hard amount of work and studying I had to put in to be where I'm at today.

With all of the movie's inspirational feelings and triumphs over hardships, leave it up to me to rain on everyone's feel-good parade. "Pursuit of Happyness", more like "Purshit of Crappyness"! Just kidding. However, there are a few things that the main character Chris Gardner did in this movie which should not elicit sympathy for his plights:

1. Chris Gardner, played by Will Smith, mentions that he spent his entire life savings on the bone density scanner machines and then finds out that doctors view these devices as luxuries and do not buy them. How could you spend your entire life savings on something without having done any market research? Dumbass, start out small by buying a couple of the machines, see how well they sell, and then buy more if they prove to be profitable. Don't just gamble all your money away all at once! No one feels that sorry for someone who loses their life savings betting on roulette, slots, poker, etc., and this foolish purchase of the bone density scanners should evoke the same lack of sympathy.

2. Chris Gardner is too proud and stubborn to have his son stay with someone else even though he is flat broke. Chris and his wife split up in the movie and the wife offers to take care of their son. Chris refuses and takes care of his son himself even though he is in no financial condition to do so. The wife isn't financially stable either, but at least she has family members who can help out. Chris endangers his son by having his son sleep in subway bathrooms and homeless shelters for a period of time when he should be having his son stay with the mom or some other family member or friend instead. Of course it also goes without saying, if you cannot properly take care of yourself, you cannot properly take care of a child, so don't have a kid in the first place.

3. Where is the welfare and government aid? I realize this movie took place in the early 80's when less safety nets were in place in the U.S., but where is the welfare/financial aid/unemployment for this guy? These options may have just been conveniently omitted from the movie to make Chris Gardner's plight seem that much worse. Now a days lazy individuals can live off the fat of the land for a long time without having to get another job. Unemployment helps those who lose their jobs, welfare helps those who don't make much money, etc. Don't get me wrong, we all actually pay into unemployment, so I don't really fault those who choose to collect unemployment, even though I refused it during my one opportunity to collect it.

Ignoring these glossed-over-for-Hollywood issues, I must say, this is a perfect example of the hard work and effort one must put in to get themselves out of a bad financial situation and into a good one. The movie is quite inspirational and should serve as an example to any lazy bums out there of the lengths they should go to in order to get off the streets and back into society. Bravo Chris Gardner on making it!

PITTSBURGH—Pittsburgh police say one homeless man was stabbed by another after they argued over who was the better panhandler.

Here's a reenactment of the event:

Being able to shank someone with a shiv is an important part of being a bum. The stabber bum clearly showed he had the more well rounded bum-skills with his on-point (pun intended) shanking of the "victim" bum.

Serious review and rant of the new movie "The Soloist"

Last Wednesday night I saw an early screening of the movie "The Soloist", starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. The movie, based on a true story, is about LA Times author Steve Lopez (played by Robert Downey Jr.) who helps the crazy schizophrenic bum and musical genius Nathaniel Anthony Ayers (played by Jamie Foxx). We were told that the screening we saw wasn't the absolute finalized version of the movie, and perhaps the input from the two-paged comment cards that the audience filled out will be incorporated into the final version. Obviously I provided some fantastic feedback since I am an expert on the homeless and also live in Los Angeles. Overall the movie is good, mainly because of the great acting by Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. However, there are certain aspects of the movie which are far from good and actually promote dangerous ideas of how homeless should be treated.

Right from the start of the movie you can tell that the writer is using the movie to further some of her political beliefs. Yes, I realize that a film is often made of the inputs of multiple writers and cast members, but for the sake and ease of this review, let's just assume the strong likelihood that there is one primary writer. Furthermore I have read that the screenplay was penned by Susannah Grant, so I will use the pronoun "her" when referring to the writer. As I was saying, Robert Downey Jr's character Steve Lopez makes some unneeded and unnecessary ignorant comments about Governor Schwarzenegger that come from left field, sarcastically saying that the governor is "doing a bang up job," and mocking Schwarzenegger's background as a bodybuilder (the greatest bodybuilder of all time might I add). If you know how I roll, you know the movie just pissed me the fuck off by spewing that bullshit. Typical ignorant people, usually liberals, tend to blame one political head, usually the president but in this case Governor Schwarzenegger, for all of society's current woes. Dumbasses, you think one man is going to solve every fucking problem in the country? Governments, both federal and state, are comprised of thousands of people, and you are blaming one guy for the country's or state's problems? Use some basic logical thinking to realize that one political leader cannot magically solve all of society's problems.

A little bit later in the film, and definitely from out of no where, Steve Lopez mocks a member of the group Atheists United. During the mocking, Lopez asks the Atheists United member, "What else do you not believe in?" To which the socially inept Atheists United member responds, "Science Fiction." What the fuck? No one says that shit! That's fucking ridiculous, atheists don't have a core basic disbelief in science fiction. Sure, it's fiction, so by definition of the word "fiction" people in general shouldn't believe in it. However, there is truth in fiction and past science fiction writings have spawned the ideas for many of today's inventions. The writer's theistic beliefs have caused her to make up lies about atheists in order to make atheists look bad. Nice job asshole.

Not too long into the movie, Robert Downey Jr.'s character Steve Lopez finds Jamie Foxx's character Nathaniel Ayers beautifully playing the violin in down town L.A. (By the way, in real life, bums are rarely talented at anything except for sucking at life). The plot of the movie revolves around Steve Lopez befriending and helping Nathaniel Ayers and encouraging Nathaniel to use his musical talents. Nathaniel was an extremely talented musician when he was younger and attended the prestigious Julliard Academy. However, Nathaniel naturally and organically (not through external sources like drugs) becomes schizophrenic and drops out of school. The scenes of Nathaniel losing his mind were excellent and pretty scary. Whether or not someone becoming schizophrenic is actually like that, I'm not sure, but it was definitely a frightening interpretation of it.

Current day, Nathaniel is bat shit crazy and almost gets himself run over by nearly causing a few car accidents. He also violently attacks a few people in the movie. He is a danger to himself and others. Yet strangely enough, the writer of this movie seems to want to make the point that Nathaniel and mentally ill people in general should not be medicated! WTF? In the movie, the leader of the homeless shelter, David, shows resistance to medicating Nathaniel, giving vague ambiguous reasons like it's Nathaniel's choice to be medicated (unless he's a danger to himself and others, which he had already proven he was) and rhetorically asks if medication is really what Nathaniel needs right now. If medicated, this schizo homeless man could possibly show significant mental improvement which could improve his entire life. Why would you want to deny him that? Other parts of the movie show homeless people in the shelter complaining about how they don't like the medicine they are given to control the voices in their heads. I LOVE the medicine that the homeless are given to control the voices in their heads because then there are no voices instructing them to shank me in the neck. Why is the writer ragging on mental health medicine so much? There is medicine out there that can help these people. Furthermore, in the final minutes of the movie, Steve Lopez says something to the effect that Nathaniel might not be any better mentally than when Steve first found him, and that maybe Steve's friendship helped him, but Steve is not sure. With that said, the writer doesn't present any alternatives to medicine or solid arguments of why Nathaniel shouldn't be medicated. Nathaniel should be medicated so he doesn't hurt himself or others, and so he can possibly get off of the streets and live a semblance of a somewhat normal life! The writer is the crazy one in this case for promoting her foolish and dangerous personal ideologies that mentally ill people shouldn't take medicine when there is a clear physical component causing their mental illness.

Other than that, there are a couple scenes about homeless that are way over the top and pretty ridiculous. Both involve enormous homeless camps that look like a cross between a giant homeless rave, a riot, and a Fight Club tournament all at the same time. Sure there are blocks and blocks on Skid Row lined with homeless people sleeping. Go watch the excellent "Bum Fights" series to see this. However, there are not huge nightly homeless rave/riot/fights like the movie portrays. If they existed, their existence would be easily provable. There is a finite amount of real estate in L.A. and many people would have surely found these enormous, chaotic homeless events and recorded them, and this phenomenon would have appeared on the internet or the news by now. They don't exist, and that's why no one has ever seen them.

In conclusion, the film is decent because of the good acting and you may want to see the movie just for that reason. You may also like it if you live in Los Angeles, because the movie setting is definitely focused on L.A. The movie also brings attention to the homeless problem, which ostensibly sounds good, but the writer's resistance to using medicine for the mentally ill may actually cause more harm than good. If you can ignore the writer's illogical and ignorant political and religious beliefs that are sometimes injected into the film, then you might want to check out "The Soloist."

Metropolitan Medical Center in 2006 was accused by the Los Angeles Police Department of using ambulances to "dump" five patients in one day onto the streets of the downtown skid row area against their will after their discharge from the hospital. At the time, officials at the hospital strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Ah, this is where one of the "dumping garbage" incidents came from. The homeless had a good thing going and they ruined it for themselves by complaining about being returned to their filthy home of Skid Row, thus bringing unecessary attention to authorities and blowing the entire operation. Homeless always bite the hand that feeds them!

Clearly these homeless did not need medical care.

But the city attorney now alleges that those patients had been recruited "by runners" who directed them to an assessment center on 7th Street, where their Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits eligibility was checked and a "fabricated description of conditions" was prepared by non-doctors so they could be eligible for treatment. All five of the patients were admitted to Metropolitan Medical Center.

Each of the patients received $20 to $30 when they returned to the assessment center after spending one to three days in the hospital, according to the suit.

"Within the past four years, hundreds, if not thousands of other homeless persons in skid row have been recruited, hospitalized, treated and discharged in a manner substantially similar . . . as part of a long-running scheme to bilk the Medicare and Medi-Cal programs out of millions of dollars by causing unnecessary hospitalization for paid recruits," the lawsuit alleges.

"Today, we are sending the message that those who would seek to defraud our healthcare system, and those who would callously exploit mentally-impaired and drug addicted homeless men and women to turn a profit will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," said Delgadillo in a statement. "These criminals thought they could get away with this scheme because -- they figured -- no one cares about the homeless on skid row. They were dead wrong."

Whoa buddy, slow your role! These homeless weren't taken advantage of, they had it good! Not only did they get to stay in a hospital for a couple of days (which has to be way nicer than going to sleep in their own feces in a cardboard box), they received free meals, and they could get some of their medical ailments treated as well....Plus they got paid on top of it! In Los Angeles, a new city ordinance makes it a misdemeanor for health facilities to transport a patient to a place other than his or her residence without written consent, the WSJ reports.

WTF? Since these bums have no residences, then the hospitals should be able to dump their asses anywhere, preferably in an incinerator, woodchipper, or the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

But hospitals are worried the new ordinance may put an undue burden on them. While several have admitted failings and are revising procedures for discharge planning, they also say many patients refuse to leave.

In hospitals, patients have a “nice, warm bed, three meals a day and maybe even a television and people waiting on them. They are literally saying to us, ‘I don’t want to go. If you discharge me, I will call the L.A. Times,’” said Carol Meyer, director of governmental relations for the Los Angeles County’s Department of Health Services.

These hospitals are businesses and shouldn't have to provide free services to people that are unwilling to pay or work. Restaurants aren't forced to give out free food to bums, clothing stores aren't forced to give out free clothes to bums, hotels don't provide free stays to bums, etc. Hospitals shouldn't be any different, unless it's providing free euthanasia or physician assisted suicide to bums.

What these hospitals should do is harvest the organs from these homeless people. Their livers may be near cirrhosis levels from years of alcohol abuse, but some organs might still be worth something. What's left of them can be used to make Soylent Green.

The article tells of how organized crime jerk-faces in trucks will drive around at night and steal all the recyclables in neighborhoods before the legitimate waste companies arrive.

A truck piled high with mixed recyclables can fetch upward of $1,000; newspapers alone can grab about $600.

Damn, that's a lot. I guess one positive aspect to take from this is that those high prices indicate that now a days you can really salvage a high percentage of recyclable items for converting them into new things. Even with the nicest shopping cart from Vons, a bum can't carry nearly as much as a large truck.

In San Francisco, poachers can be fined up to $500 and get six months jail time. In New York, thieves are subject to arrest, vehicle impoundment and fines of up to $5,000.

This is good, but I highly doubt that these punishments are enforced on anyone but the organized crime thieves. After all, trying to get money from a bum is like trying to squeeze water from a stone. Plus, jail might be a step up for some of these homeless....Sleeping in a cot is better than sleeping outdoors in a pile of soiled rags, and both an imprisoned homeless guy and a free homeless guy have a similar likelihood of getting shanked. WASHINGTON -- The number of chronically homeless people declined by 15% last year, according to a first-of-its-kind government report released Tuesday, though officials cautioned that part of the decline may be attributable to better counting methods.

The report defines a chronically homeless person as a disabled individual who has been continuously homeless for at least a year or has been homeless at least four times in the previous three years.

Hmmm does this mean that chronic homeless people aren't counted if the only thing that's disabled with them is there willingness to work? Let's hope not, because that would mean that there's WAAAAAAAAY more homeless people out there.

Advocates for the homeless warn that counting the population poses challenges. For instance, homeless individuals may not want to be found.

This 4-paged LA Times article details the life of illegal immigrant Juana Rivas who lives in Pasadena. Her "job" is going out at night and taking the recyclables out of people's recycle bins and exchanging the recycled goods for money for herself. The thing about this article is that it is written in a way that is supposed to draw sympathy for this woman, as if she was living a very hard life. However, certain facts mentioned in the article show that she is in fact living quite well.

This woman is not homeless, and does not live in a broken down hovel. She lives in a large Pasadena apartment that costs her and her family $2300 a month! WTF?! That's crazy expensive! I've looked at 2-bedroom apartments in nearby Monrovia that were $1050 a month!

Her oldest sons, a landscaper and a loan originator, contribute what they can to the rent for their four-bedroom house. And Angel, who has a green card, earns about $300 a week working in a Food 4 Less warehouse. But the family couldn't survive without Rivas' income.

"Survive" isn't the right word. How about, "live in the lap of luxury" or "ball out of control." Four people in the household work and you're bitching and moaning about paying your rent?

On a recent Saturday afternoon, she cooked carne with pico de gallo for her children as they prepared to go out with friends.

Oh, that's nice that her four able-bodied sons, ages 16 to 25, have enough time and money to go out and party. If you're out partying and not working then don't bitch and moan to everyone about how tight money is! Put all those fucking guys to work and have the older sons work longer hours instead of partying it up! Alternatively, have the dad get a better job. You're a grown-ass man and making $300 a week? Come on dog, learn a fucking trade or a skill you stupid dickhead. $300 a week is minimum wage in California if you're working full time...and it wouldn't surprise anyone to hear that your whiney lazy ass is only working part-time.

If making ends meet for the family is so hard for them, here's a fucking tip: get a cheaper apartment you goddamn idiots! The photo of the inside of the apartment shows a pretty big and nice place. I've seen huge families packed into smaller, way cheaper apartments in Pasadena. Alternatively, her family could move into a nearby ghetto city and get the same sized apartment for a lot less money.

Living in another part of the county would be cheaper, but Rivas said she and her children prefer Pasadena because it's safe and quiet.

Yeah, I'd also prefer living in one of the nicest cities around, gee! This is like saying "driving another car would be cheaper, but Rivas said she and her family prefer Ferrari's because they are fast." Are we supposed to feel sorry for them because they choose to live in a really nice apartment in a nice city? Hell, why not step it up to a mansion in the Hollywood Hills? QUIT YOUR FUCKING PITY TRIP SOB STORY! And hey Juana, if you were already having trouble supporting yourself, then you shouldn't have had so many god damn kids that you can't support either! Use some birth control for christ's sake you dumb whorish bag lady.

Furthermore, due to getting unreported off-the-books cash from her "job" and also because she is an illegal immigrant, Juana does not pay any taxes whatsoever. That's no social security tax, no income tax, no medicare tax, etc. She is stealing from the taxpaying citizens by taking advantage of services that everyone else is paying for. Furthermore, her two eldest working sons are also illegal immigrants and thus do not pay taxes. WTF are they doing with all the money they are saving by not paying taxes?...that is, besides spending money on $2300 apartments and cable TV as it says in the article. Ah yes, cable TV is a necessity that no one can go without. Does the family also have a gardener and a masseuse that they have trouble paying for? It sounds like they have a dangerous sense of self-entitlement.

Juana's stealing doesn't stop at just taxes. Taking recyclables from people's recycle bins is a crime.

But Gerald Weber, supervisor for street maintenance, said the city loses money every time a scavenger takes a bottle from someone's trash can. Weber estimated collectors siphon about 5% from the city's annual recycling profit of about $400,000.

Technically, they are stealing," he said. "Once it gets to the curb, it becomes the property of the city."

So not only is Jauna stealing in the form of not paying taxes, she is also stealing from the city by taking these recyclables. And what happens when the city gets less money? Everyone's taxes go up! It's amazing how Juana fucks over taxpayers in so many ways!

In some cities, citizens have to pay extra money to the city in order to get recycling services. When recycling isn't a mandatory fee, many people will not pay the extra money to recycle. It's possible that some cities that charge to recycle wouldn't have to charge anything if they received enough recyclable goods to make enough money to cover all of their costs. However, scavengers steal these recyclables from the city, which leads to the city making less money, which leads to the city charging citizens to recycle, which leads to some citizens not paying to recycle and thus not recycling, which leads to polluting and draining the environment of its natural resources! Therefore, scavengers are bad for the environment!

The article says that Juana looks for other jobs besides her gig as a professional recyclable thief:

She has looked for more stable jobs, including cleaning offices at night. But nowadays, more companies are asking for immigration papers, papers she doesn't have.

That's not the only reason she doesn't get another job. Juana makes much more money stealing and not paying taxes on her income than she would at many other jobs. Furthermore, Juana has been in the country for 26 years and still only speaks broken english. Maybe the reason you can't get a job is because you are an imbecile who hasn't learned english in the 26 years you've been in this country!

"We are working honorably," she [Juana] said. "We aren't robbing. The police should let us work."

No, Juana, you aren't working honorably, you are stealing recycling profits from the city and are stealing by not paying taxes on your income. You are right though about not robbing, because by definition that requires a threat or violence. What you are doing falls more under petty larceny. The police should let you work...on getting the fuck out of the country you vulturish leech. Juana and vampires alike both operate at night and drain people of valuable resources.

No, that was not a raccoon rifling through your trash and messing it up, it was just Juana. Pasadena residents should shred their confidential documents lest Juana decide to take part in an identity theft scheme. She is an illegal immigrant after all and thus wants your citizenship.

One weekend I was at The Habit Burger in Glendale when an unusual pair of beggars came in. It was a small old woman beggar with a large, silent, beggar backup man with her. Her backup beggar man was about 6 feet tall, but he had some mass to him which made him intimidating. The old woman proceeded to walk around the restaurant asking every customer for a dollar. The beggar backup man would stand right behind her and without saying a word would glare menacingly at the customers, helping scare the customers into handing over a dollar to the woman.

I painfully watched as several people made the mistake of handing her a dollar bill. She did not thank a single one of them.

The beggar woman bought some food after collecting enough money. With her order she asked for a styrofoam cup that would normally be used for drinking water. She proceeded to spend a few minutes pumping this large cup completely full of ketchup! It disgusted a few customers that saw her do this, including myself. Furthermore she monopolized the ketchup pump during this time and prevented other customers from getting ketchup. She even had to step on her tippy toes to help her get leverage for pumping this huge quantity of ketchup. Along with the ketchup she also took a ridiculously massive stack of napkins.

After sloppily eating her food like a disgusting pig, she went around to all the customers and asked if she could have their food. The customers, intimidated by her large backup man, sheepishly agreed. Eventually she made her way to me. "Can I have those fries?" she asked, as she reached her hand only a few inches away from my fries, about to grab them without even hearing my response. "NO!" I said loudly with a mean look, and quickly put my hand up by my fries to block her. She seemed somewhat surprised and headed back to her booth.

It appeared to me that the other customers nearby who had watched this incident and had been taken advantage of by the ungrateful beggars had a look of respect for my actions. It's as if they thought to themselves, "good, I wish I had the guts to say no like that when they took my money and food."

Other than the usual basics of revolting homeless behavior, there are a few specific points about this incident that upset me. One is the physical intimidation factor presented by this good cop/bad cop beggar duo. This threatening manner of begging borders on robbery and is becoming more frequent. Second, the beggars' ungratefulness also disgusts me, but this thanklessness is also common from bums. Third, the bag woman depleting the restaurant's free condiments pisses me off. I've seen homeless do the same thing at salsa bars at Mexican restaurants. Fourth, the woman beggar's attempt to steal my fries without hearing my response makes me quite angry.

I hope I never see this scummy pair in Glendale again....but if I do, I'll be happy to engage the large silent beggar in fisticuffs if he wants to get violent when I won't give him my money.

6 young heroes! This article starts out making the homeless guy Green sound like an ok guy who was just minding his own business. It's not until the end of the article that the author reveals that the bum was causing trouble and harassing everyone in town for months.

The other day, fresh out of the hospital, Green was spotted back in town. (He proved elusive, always a step ahead of visitors trying to find him.) Many folks weren't happy to see him.

No one is ever happy to see a homeless guy...alive.

The attack underscores what advocates for homeless people say is a growing problem across the country: attacks on society's most vulnerable members, almost as sport, especially by young people.

The attacks are not a growing problem, they are a growing problem solver. I like the idea of beating homeless as a sport.

The typical attack involves a mob of youths that beats a homeless person with blunt objects, sometimes setting the person on fire, Stoops said.

In the first six months of this year, 13 homeless people have been killed across the country, he said. The pace is on par with last year's, in which 28 homeless people were killed, up from 20 in 2006. Nonfatal attacks also are rising, Stoops said, up from 142 in 2006 to 160 in 2007.

Detectives are investigating the Bolinas attack. But by all accounts, Green confronted a group of young people who had been drinking. He was angry about an altercation another homeless man had the day before with some youths.

I guarantee this homeless guy started mouthing off to this group of youths and deserved to get beaten. I've seen it firsthand time and time again where people will be minding their own business and a homeless guy starts harassing them.

The attack happened on the beach. Green was stabbed multiple times and pummeled with a skateboard, flashlight and bottles. While he was down, the mob kicked and jumped on him.
Sheriff's investigators said that up to 20 people watched the beating, but no one stopped it.

20 people watched the beating and no one stopped it partly because the people knew that homeless guy deserved to get beaten for starting trouble.

Five people have been charged with attempted murder.

Five people should have been charged with attempted awesomeness.

But there are some hard feelings for Green here, too.

Derek James, a bartender at Smiley's saloon, approached a reporter to say Green had been causing trouble in town for months. He had been barred from Smiley's for harassing people, James said.

"He was getting into people's business," he said. "I really felt like something was going to happen."

Many were relieved to see Green back on his beat. But James could not believe the news.

"I know a lot of people in this community," he said, "are not really happy to see him back."

Not surprising. No one wants this asshole trouble-making bum back on the street. The town was hoping that he'd be 6 feet underground.

Last year I was out late night with my buddy and some lady friends at an outdoor food joint called Lucky Boy in Pasadena. There was a homeless woman digging for food and drinks out of the trash can and eating them. It was ironic how garbage was digging for garbage. One of the girls we were with felt bad for the bag lady and announced that she was going to give the homeless woman the rest of her burrtio. "Don't do it, you're going to regret it," I told her. The case was magnified in the public because just a month prior to Kelly Nolan’s disappearance, Austin Bodahl, a 23-year-old homeless man from Minnesota, was shot to death on State Street.

It happened no more than a week after the spring semester ended on May 22. Police said Daniel Kelly, 31, and Bodahl got into an argument that led to a fight, and Kelly eventually fired the fatal shots.

The MPD apprehended Kelly soon after and charged him with first-degree reckless homicide. He faces up to 60 years in jail if convicted.

Daniel Kelly is a hero and the real crime is that he's facing up to 60 years in jail for defending himself against a bum. The law for shooting homeless people should be that you get one or two years off of any other sentence you might incur, so basically, a "get out of jail free" pass for shooting a homeless person.

Aug. 24., Police said a 20-year-old man fell asleep on his porch on the 400 block of N. Carroll St. and woke up to Kevin Smith, 45, of Madison, sexually assaulting him.

The two coolest grandmas ever got rid of some homeless people; they deserve to be financially rewarded.

In April the women were convicted of a scheme in which they befriended homeless men, took out insurance policies on them and then killed them in murders staged to look like hit-and-run auto accidents. Prosecutors say the women collected $2.8 million before the scheme was uncovered.

Wow, the women got $2.8 million....I would have terminated the bums for free! In fact I would have paid to do it. If I have to shell out some money for a bum hunting license, then so be it.

In the college city known for its liberal values, the transient population comes under suspicion in two unsolved slayings.

This is a great article and I was surprised that something about Madison made it to the LA Times.

Here is a little background on Madison and its homeless. Madison, Wisconsin is a quintessential college town. Naive, gullible, and impressionable college freshmen arrive to Madison and are quickly taken advantage of by beggars. The vast majority of freshmen have never had to deal with beggars in their suburban towns. That being said, the freshmen find it hard to say no to a beggar in their faces asking for spare change.

Furthermore, Madison, WI is polluted with liberals who love to leech from society and believe in a socialistic redistribution of income. Many of these hippy liberals are just about one step above homelessness because of their common refusal to work. They relate to the parasitic ways of the homeless and therefore support the homeless. The hippy liberals aggressively and militantly impress the notion onto the college freshman of treating homeless with care. Disagree with the liberals and they will scream unfounded accusations in your face that you must be ignorant, privileged, and cold hearted.

Over time, and accelerated by events especially like these homeless murdering Madison residents, Madisonian college students begin to realize that homeless as a whole are not good people and should not be coddled, pampered, and babied.

The former mayor says:

"But the combination of more homeless, more aggressive panhandling and these recent crimes has led to some not-so-politically-correct views."

The homeless were given an inch and they took a mile. Some of the panhandling is so aggressive that it is borderline robbery. Luckily people are abandoning the "politically correct" views for the correct views.

After student Brittany Zimmermann was killed April 2, police interviewed dozens of homeless in the downtown area.Police took DNA samples from some of the panhandlers, and more than a dozen were arrested on unrelated charges, Madison police Officer Meredith York said.

"...more than a dozen were arrested on unrelated charges." Wow, homeless people are prolific criminals! There's a difference between prejudice and statistics, and statistics show that homeless love to commit crimes.

Even in a traditional haven like San Francisco, city officials are considering a plan to encourage citizens to drop spare change into orange "homeless meters" that would aid groups that help the homeless, instead of giving it to panhandlers.

This is a lot better than giving homeless money directly, because homeless undoubtedly use money in their pockets to purchase booze, cigarettes, and drugs. At least now the money can purchase food and clothing for the homeless instead of supporting their vices.

"The city already had limited panhandling to two spots along State Street, a popular area for panhandlers".

My roommate and I used to joke about these spots, saying the reason that low-lifes are always hanging out there must be that they get discounts on criminal fines if they are arrested in those areas.

Last month, businessman Fred Mohs stopped allowing a downtown church to use one of his garages for parking after the church refused his request to close its homeless shelter."

I'm all for helping people improve their lives," said Mohs, 71, a retired real estate lawyer who has owned property downtown for 50 years. "But that's not what we're dealing with here. It's aggressive panhandling, aggressive touching, scary behavior from people on drugs or mentally ill."

Fred Mohs, I commend you. Seriously, who would want dangerous mentally ill drug addicts hanging around their property?

With Madison weather being so cold, you would think that the homeless there would hop a train, hitchhike, or save up enough money to take a bus somewhere warmer. After all, it's not like they would be leaving much behind. Instead the homeless stay in Madison and freeze their butts off for the majority of the year. Homeless have never been known for being intelligent...Weather aside though, homeless do get treated pretty well in Madison and get away with a lot...including murder!

This should be reworded to: "If you're so desperate to not work, you will even create a rat's nest underneath a bridge to live in." Perhaps all bums suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome which makes them incapable of working...but then again, this bum was willing to put in some amount of effort to live underneath a bridge. Perplexing.

A homeless man, strong from bodybuilding, whipped out a knife and thrust it twice into Hoffmann’s chest. Then he sliced across Hoffmann’s throat. When Hoffmann raised his arm defensively, the man cut across it as well. Then he speared Hoffmann’s back with the knife, nicking his liver.

Wait, what? Homeless men are supposed to be weak from malnourishment, not strong from bodybuilding. They are supposed to be worrying about where they'll get their next meal, not how good their upper pecs look. Bodybuilding is about putting in the hard work inside and outside the gym to create a great physique. A homeless guy shouldn't have the time or the resources for such a hobby because he should be trying to get a job and a place to live!

According to Hoffmann, the man who attacked him arrived in the U.S. from Cuba on the 1980 Mariel boatlift and had spent time in prison in this country. When they met, Hoffmann was overseeing the renovation of the dream house on Market Street, a vast expanse with brick walls that he bought in 2000 for $420,000.

Hoffmann says his attacker “was kind of loopy,” full of talk about Jupiter, but he was also effective at scaring off would-be vandals. When he adopted the back of Hoffmann’s property as a home, Hoffmann let him stay. He even agreed to pay for the man’s badly needed dental work if he could get himself to a dental clinic. But when the man began to menace the neighbors and get agitated with Hoffmann, the broker told him he couldn’t stay there any longer.

Full of talk about Jupiter? It's funny how schizophrenic homeless really do love to talk about space, the stars, the planets, and the moon. Of course, those are where the government's mind control rays are being beamed from. Get out your tinfoil hats!

In four seconds, Hoffmann had six knife wounds and was cornered, his back to the front door, which his attacker had locked. Suddenly, a worker on scaffolding above the roofless building peered down and yelled the man’s name. Hoffmann’s attacker looked up, stunned. “And I just took off running as fast as I could,” Hoffmann said. He got out the back door into the alley.

Wow, in a heartbeat that homeless guy was stabbing this man. Who would have thought that a psychotic super strong homeless man with nothing to lose could turn violent!

The man Hoffmann identified as his attacker – Aurelio Mesa, now 48 – has been jailed since he was arrested shortly after the attack and charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. According to Deputy Dist. Atty. Belle Chen, Mesa has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity and awaits trial.

There's no doubt that this homeless guy is an extreme danger to society and should be locked up for life or put to sleep.

Hoffmann acknowledged that the experience changed at least one thing about him: He won’t give money to homeless people. The handouts, he theorized, do nothing to help people improve their lot. “The guy who stabbed me – I had given him money, freedom, latitude,” he said, smiling ruefully.

That is a good lesson for everyone to learn from this story. Homeless people love to bite the hand that feeds them. Never trust them and never give them handouts.

Personal Anecdote - "My truck got towed and I need thirty dollars" LoL

One Saturday morning in Chicago, IL, I walked to work since I had to pull a Saturday shift. From about 20 yards behind me, a very tall, skinny man started calling after me. Usually I don't stop when I sense leech-like neediness coming from people on the street, but since there were other people around and he was literally jogging after me from a distance, I erroneously thought he had a reason to specifically talk to me. I turned around and asked, "What, did I drop something?" The dishonest hustling panhandler said "Uh...Yeah!" as he continued to jog to meet me. He specifically wanted to talk to me not because I dropped something, but because he thought I looked like I could be conned more easily than the other people around.

When he caught up to me, he proceeded to tell me the tall tale that he had been making a quick delivery for work and had gotten his truck towed. He now needed $30 to get his truck back. I told him, "You shouldn't have parked there," and walked away. He whined something like "Aww come on man!" but I kept walking. Looking back I wish I had berated him and called him out on his bullshit, but I had about 20 pounds less muscle at the time and the guy was very big, like 6'4, plus I had to go open the place I was working at and couldn't be late.

First off, why would I believe him about the towing story when he immediately straight up lied to me about dropping something? Way to establish credibility you idiot. Second, even if it was true, why should I care that he knowingly broke the law and is now paying the price? He made his bed, now sleep in it. Third, why $30? Probably because the hustler has found that to be the most he can get out of a gullible mark. Tows cost a lot more than that....and why can't he pay with a credit card? I've since heard similar cons being attempted on other people in different cities. Fuck that guy! I hope he's dead or dies very soon.

For some reason I have always been a magnet for beggars to hit me up for change. I used to think it was my old style soccer-style butt-cut haircut that made me look like naive sucker that would give money to homeless and hustlers, but changing my hairstyle made no difference. I then tried sporting a mean look on my face when walking down the street, but that didn't help either. Over time, for reasons I'm not entirely sure about, I've gotten asked for change less and less. Then again, I no longer frequent places filled with filthy panhandlers.

One day in 2004 I was walking down Madison Street in the Chicago Loop. A thirty-something male pushing a stroller with a toddler, and also accompanied by one or two friends or family members, stopped me on the street. He proceeded to tell me that today he came to downtown Chicago from Winnetka, a neighboring Chicago suburb, and that he and his family needed 75 cents (or was it $1.50?) to take the train or bus back to Winnetka. I told him "You should have thought of that before you came here" and proceeded to walk away.

Looking back on this situation makes me realized how F'ed up it was. A man with a toddler has no money and travels far away from home with no means of getting back. Dude, WTF are you thinking? I strongly believe that the toddler was his based partly on how this man was pushing the stroller, and I was also under the impression that the toddler was coming with him back to Winnetka. By not having ANY money and no means of transportation, this fool was putting his child in danger. It's amazing to me that he would do such a thing! This scumbag needs to get a job. What a novel idea!

he found a cheap place to live on pricey Lake Shore Drive.
Actually, Richard Dorsay lived under Lake Shore Drive, in a wooden shack built into the beams and girders of the drawbridge that crosses the Chicago River.
Dorsay was recently evicted after another man arrested in suburban Streamwood told police about the home under the bridge.

His fellow homeless man ratted him out. Never trust a homeless guy. The article goes on to say:

When authorities went inside, they found an elaborate setup that tapped into the bridge's electricity to power a television, microwave, space heater and PlayStation video game system. There, Dorsay could relax, turn on a Chicago Bears game, invite friends over and pop open some beers.

Instead of working hard to afford a real residence and life necessities such as food, the homeless men watched TV, played video games, and drank beers. Typical.

The home had its quirks. Whenever Dorsay heard the bells that signal the arms of
the bridge would soon rise to let boats through, he held on as the bridge slowly
pitched him forward.
"The first time it was scary," he said. "After that, it was almost like riding a Ferris wheel."

Too bad the bridge didn't crush him in its girders :(

It's amazing the time and ingenuity this bum put into building this makeshift home so that he could live under a bridge like a troll that harrasses the Billy Goats Gruff. However, he's done all of this instead of working a real job and resembling a normal member of society. It's as if he's deathly allergic to work and will do anything BUT get a job.

Personal anecdote - Change comes from within

One summer day in the liberal college town of Madison, Wisconsin, my roommate and I were exiting the State Street Taco Bell, when two "train kid" hippies were walking in. A few people in Madison refer to these beggars as train kids because, as rumor goes, during the summer when Madison has warm weather, they hobo-style hop on a train and come to Madison for a while. I doubt there is much truth in this and wonder how many people actually still refer to any of these beggars as "train kids."
These particular train kids were probably older than my roommate and I, and the girl of the guy/girl pair had a small dog with her. She asked us, "Spare some change for a soda?" I replied, "Change comes from within." She muttered, "Fucking assholes," as we walked away.
She is with a guy, possibly her boyfriend, yet neither her or her guy friend have enough money for a soda? You gotta be kidding me.
First moral of the story: One great retort to use against any beggar who asks if you can spare some change is "Change comes from within."
Second moral of the story: Get a job if you have no money
Third moral of the story: If you can't take care of yourself, then you shouldn't have a pet
Fourth moral of the story: Beggars and homeless love hanging out at Taco Bell

Robbing bums - The reward is not the money

Recently there have been reports of bums being beaten and robbed. Clearly robbing a bum is not a profitable venture...unless you want a pile of soiled rags and perhaps a rusty screwdriver. I think these heroic, reverse-Robin-Hood-esque robbers did not attack these bums to take their belongings, but attacked them for the sake of cleaning up the city and improving mankind. After the attack, the heroes probably thought to themselves, "I feel great having done my civic duty to clean up the city...As long as I'm here with this bum carcass, can I get any tangible reward for this?" And then they searched the vanquished bum for treasure. Much like how slaying an Imp in the video game Final Fantasy only produces one gold piece, unfortunately, defeating bums does not yield many physical rewards either.
Other things bums are not good for besides robbing them for money:
Watching your children
Managing your finances
Designated driving

Um, hardworking? Apparently not, HE'S HOMELESS. Of course, this was another homeless person saying that this other bum was hardworking. Relative to another extremely lazy homeless person, the slain bum might just be hardworking.
